How do I book my vaccination?

The Flu season for this year will open on the 2nd April 2024.

We also take walk-ins for the COVID and Flu vaccinations Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

Bookings for Covid and Flu: can be made online or by calling the national vaccine booking hotline (0800 282 926).  Please note: This is the national booking system, we are unable to make bookings on your behalf.

When you book online, be sure to choose ‘Moyle’s Pharmacy’ as the location from the list. To find us, the easiest way is to search ‘Moyles’ as the location. If you need to cancel or change your appointment, you can do so here.

Bookings for Boostrix, Shingrix or MMR: Please call us to arrange a booking for these vaccinations as we will need to order them in for you.

How long will it take?

Our Vaccinating Pharmacist will go through the pre-vaccination checks and ask you to fill in the consent form before administering your vaccination. The process takes about 5 minutes, which includes administering the vaccination. After your dose, you will need to wait for up to 20 minutes in the shop. This is to ensure you don't have a post-vaccination reaction. In the unlikely case of this happening to you, our staff are trained to keep you safe. Post-vaccination wait time does depend on which vaccination(s) you have had. The vaccinating Pharmacist will let you know during your pre-vaccination check.

Why get vaccinated?

Vaccinating helps reduce the spread of disease, protecting not only individuals but also the wider community. It can also help reduce the risk of a disease outbreak, which can be devastating for communities. Vaccination is especially important for vulnerable members of the population, such as the elderly, pregnant women, and children.

How do vaccines work?

Vaccines help protect people against a variety of serious illnesses. Vaccines work by introducing a small amount of a weakened or killed virus into the body. This stimulates the body’s natural defence system to produce antibodies to fight it. If the person comes into contact with the real virus in the future, their body is already prepared to fight it and they are much less likely to become ill.

How are vaccines given?

Vaccinations are administered as an injection by one of our vaccinating Pharmacists. The injection is inserted into the deltoid (shoulder) muscle in the upper arm. Before administering the vaccine, our Vaccinating Pharmacist will check your medical history and ask some questions about any allergies you may have.
